Google OA Guide

Google Online Assessment Guide

Google's OA is two coding problems in 90 minutes, drawn more heavily from graph theory, dynamic programming, mathematical reasoning, binary search, and geometry than the average company OA — Google's problems tend to be less "business scenario" and closer to raw algorithmic puzzles than Amazon's or Microsoft's.

What Google actually tests

Google's OA skews more theoretical than most: fewer word-problem wrappers, more direct algorithmic questions on graphs, DP, and number theory. Binary search and geometry show up more often here than at almost any other company in Ediky's bank, which is a useful signal for where to spend extra prep time.

There's no separate behavioral section in the OA itself the way Amazon has one — Google pushes cultural-fit and "Googleyness" screening to later interview rounds, so the OA is almost purely a coding signal.

How to prepare with Ediky

Ediky's Google preset builds a 2-problem, 90 minute mock test with the same topic weighting. Run it under real timed conditions once you're comfortable with the underlying patterns untimed.

127 questions in Ediky's bank are tagged "Google" across the coding and MCQ theory sections — filter the problem list by company to work through them before attempting the timed preset.

Where most candidates lose time

Geometry and binary-search-on-answer problems are the two patterns candidates most often under-practice before a Google OA, because they show up rarely elsewhere. Spend deliberate time on both — they're disproportionately represented here relative to the general DSA interview circuit.
